Locum Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon – Plymouth

Austin Dean Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Locum Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to provide essential services in Plymouth. The successful candidate will cover general maxillofacial surgery and trauma on call, working alongside an established team of consultants.

Role Overview:

• Location: Plymouth, (with weekend on-call covering Derriford and Torbay)
• On-call rota: 1 in 3 weekdays and 1 in 7 weekends, supported by 24-hour DCT/F2 and SAS grade cover.
• Specialist interest in Head and Neck cancer surgery is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality general maxillofacial surgery and trauma services.
• Lead and support junior team members.
• Participate in the management of Head and Neck cancer cases, if applicable.

Essential Requirements:

• Full UK GMC registration.
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
• Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, or equivalent.
• Certificate of Accreditation, or eligibility for CST in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, or within 6 months of eligibility.
• BDS or equivalent.

Desirable:

• Higher degree(s).
• MFDS or equivalent and membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, or equivalent.
• Postgraduate awards and prizes.
• Other medical qualifications.
