We are actively recruiting temporary Healthcare Assistants for ad hoc shifts, with regular long-term opportunities also available. Choose from flexible days, evenings, nights, or weekends to suit your schedule.

Our client’s urgent care division plays a key role in delivering essential services to NHS 111, Clinical Assessment Services, GP Out of Hours, and Urgent Treatment Centres nationwide, ensuring that patients receive the care they need promptly. By partnering with healthcare commissioners across the UK & Ireland, they support the NHS in reducing waiting times and improving access to care.

About the Role:

As a valued member of the healthcare team, you will provide compassionate and effective care to all patients attending the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC). You will assist in creating a safe care environment, ensuring infection control standards are upheld, and supporting clinicians in delivering high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Perform ECG recordings, urine dip tests, and pregnancy tests.
  • Support clinicians with wound dressing, plaster of Paris application, and use of slings or braces.
  • Record vital signs and report any abnormalities to the clinician.
  • Act as a chaperone when necessary and assist with patient care under the supervision of qualified staff.
  • Demonstrate basic life support skills after training.
  • Help maintain and organise medical equipment in the UTC.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist admin staff with patient bookings using healthcare IT systems.
  • Help the UTC meet both local and national healthcare targets.
  • Order and maintain stock and pharmacy supplies.
  • Ensure the clinical and waiting areas remain tidy and safe, following infection prevention protocols.
  • Take part in ongoing training and development.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working in an Urgent Treatment Centre or hospital setting.
  • NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and healthcare systems like Adastra.
  • Strong team player with effective communication skills.
