This is an exciting opportunity for a Locum Consultant who is passionate about prison psychiatry and can deliver outstanding clinical leadership to the mental health team.
This Post is ideally suited for a Consultant who enjoys assessing and treating challenging and unusual mental and physical health clinical presentations in a complex long term environment.
The role of the Locum Consultant Psychiatrist at HMP is an existing role which is being expanded to reflect the need for increased clinical input to the service. The Mental Health Team in HMP provides an integrated Mental Health Service, providing primary mental health team (PMH) and the secondary mental health in reach team (MHIRT). The service is constantly evolving according to the needs of our community and current best practice.
The Mental Health Team at HMP work closely with our clients partnership agencies in the prison including staff from the PIPE, Therapeutic Community and Forward Trust, addiction services. There is a weekly MDT with all agencies to discuss complex cases.
Requirements:
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
- Approved clinician status
- Approved under S12
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- MRCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
