Locum Consultant in Psychiatry – Ilford, Essex

Role Overview:
- Unit: Adult Acute Male Clinical Decision Unit
- Location: Ilford, Essex
- Responsibilities:
- Lead clinical decision-making in a fast-paced unit with a 7-day turnaround for patients to be transferred to treatment wards, HTT, or the community.
- Provide clinical leadership and expertise to a multidisciplinary team (MDT), including junior doctors and an SpR.
- Collaborate with a second consultant in this vital inpatient role.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Section 12(2) Approval: Essential for the role.
- Experience in Supervision: Demonstrable experience supervising junior doctors and MDT members.
- Electronic Patient Record Systems: Proficiency with NHS platforms, such as RiO, is highly desirable.
- Mental Health Act Knowledge: Strong understanding and practical application of the Mental Health Act.
- Leadership Experience: Previous leadership roles in inpatient settings are advantageous.
Qualifications Required:
- Full GMC Registration: With a license to practice in the UK.
- CCT or CESR in Adult Psychiatry: A Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Adult Psychiatry or a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) is essential.
- Section 12(2) Approval: Current and valid Section 12(2) approval to assess patients under the Mental Health Act.
- Approved Clinician Status (Desirable): Candidates with Approved Clinician status are highly preferred.
- MRCPsych or Equivalent: Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or an equivalent qualification is required.
