About the Job:

Are you ready for an exciting opportunity to join a pioneering team in General Internal Medicine? Our client is expanding their newly established General Internal Medicine (GIM) team at Derriford Hospital and is seeking two dynamic and motivated GIM Consultants. This role offers a chance to be at the forefront of an innovative service, providing exceptional care across two GIM wards: Hembury and Hartor (each with 28 beds). You’ll be part of a collaborative team that includes a full complement of Junior Doctors and Specialist Registrars, ensuring high-quality care for GIM patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage non-elective general medical patients admitted from ED/MAU and internal ward transfers.
  • Lead inpatient ward rounds.
  • Support junior medical staff through training and mentorship.
  • Participate in Clinical Governance.
  • Provide MAU (Medical Assessment Unit) cover on a rota basis.
  • Contribute to weekend morning ward rounds (1 in 6).
  • As the service grows, contribute to MAU take alongside the 1:4 weekly commitment.

Facilities and Support:

Requirements:

  • Full GMC registration and specialist registrar
  • MRCP or equivalent qualification
  • Consultant-level decision-making abilities
  • Experience in clinical trials and audits
