Role Highlights: Consultant Histopathologist (10 PA Full-Time)
This is a rare opportunity for a dedicated Histopathologist to make an impact in Cornwall’s largest pathology department. The laboratory is a designated cancer center with UKAS Accreditation, processing over 35,000 histology cases, 1,600 diagnostic cytology cases, and 900 autopsies annually. The department employs advanced molecular techniques and recently transitioned to a subspecialty reporting model, with a preference for candidates with expertise in GI and/or dermatopathology.
Main Duties Include:
- Implement cutting-edge molecular techniques like automated PCR for theranostic work and tumour expression analysis.
- Provide essential support for the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
- Collaborate with the South 1 NHSI Pathology Network, integrating a digital histopathology solution across 5 regional trusts by 2024.
- Participate in the University of Exeter’s education program, with a tailored job plan offering 2.5 SPAs in your first year as a new consultant.

Essential Qualifications:
- FRCPath or equivalent
- Full GMC Registration with a License to Practice
- Listed on the GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months of obtaining)
- Experience in Clinical Histopathology
- A background in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
