Job Summary
Our client is a property Estate Agent in Stratford who is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial management and accounting principles, with proficiency in various accounting software. This role will involve overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing mentorship to junior staff while working under the Head of Finance. The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting through our finance software and supporting strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Utilise accounting software maintain accurate financial records.
  • Prepare and analyse financial rental statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice processing and payment approvals.
  • Oversee the month-end closing process, ensuring timely completion of all financial activities.
  • Conduct regular audits of financial data to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accountants, fostering their professional development.
  • Collaborate with other operational departments to ensure invoices are processed and paid on time.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices in financial services to ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, AAT) is preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial accounting and management within a corporate environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software Xero is required.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior staff members effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information clearly.
